The Tornado Road Cycling Club was born in 2013, but open to members from 2014. One question we were asked, was why start another club when there are several around. The answer to that was fairly simple, we wanted a club that was a little more like a family, somewhere to feel like you belonged and the effort you put into your cycling was appreciated.

The Tornado wants to put the fun back into your cycling with club rides and social events and we want to know about member’s efforts, such as sportives and events and what you achieve. We also want to see your photos and share in your success.

As a club we hold weekly club rides, a club 10 Time Trial, hill climb competitions, social events and  much more.

See What we do page or Club Rides section for more details, or join the Tornado Community on Facebook.

July 2017

The Tornado RCC results keep pooring in with Ian Hayden setting a new PB in the VTTA 10 mile standards with a 24.35.

Adrian Watkins set a new PB for his VTTA standard at 50 miles with an improvement of 3m 26s, with a time of 2hrs 8mins 26s. Then at the National 100 mile championships Adi came in 60th out of 120 entrants, setting another PB with a time of 4hrs 31mins 24s, an amazing achievement.

There will be more standard attempts before the year is out.

June 2017

The Tornado RCC completed their charity challenge, climbing 29,029ft (Mount Everest) in 3 hours 30 mins, by repeatedly sending several riders up Bulbarrow. We managed to raise just over £400 for the Teddy 20 charity.

May 2017

The Tornado RCC were at it again on Tuesday 30th May, racing another CAT4 Weymouth Crit. Richard Wyeth claiming a well earned 5th place, having pulled back several attempts by others to break away. One more round to go in Weymouth on 13th June.

The Tornado RCC got their first race win on Saturday 20th May, with Chris Wilson taking a well earned 1st place in the Weymouth Crit (CAT4) race. A BIG CONGRATULATIONS to Chris! A second rider, Richard Wyeth came home in 8th place.

Please visit our charity page, where you will find details of what our club and its riders are doing for charity. Any donations are welcome and our club thanks you in advance for any support you offer.
